advice i have heared recently was that you should never do a 50% partnership, do 80/20 or 90/10. someone needs to be the boss, and an uneven partnership makes clear who that is. if you got the smaller share it is easier to get out if needed, and your loss is less if you get kicked out.

@Pete:Yes, I was attempting to be facetious. Sorry that I wasn't as clear about that as I could have been!

@ "J@C"I'd want nothing more than for that to actually be true. I wish you are that guy, so that I can say this to you:I've met many many people like you, and none of them are worth spitting on. You're all vapid, pathetic excuses for human beings who are obsessed with power because they have little else going for them. I hope someone successful comes along and takes the money-grabbing harlot, and leaves her in a gutter somewhere. Seems that's where she belongs. This is an excellent revenge story. Revenge in this form is healthy and very satisfying. More!

@Karen, I can't tell if you're joking or not. My business partner Meghann and I are both straight and we do just fine.Call me weird, but - as a dude - if you can't start a business with someone without accidentally penetrating their vagina (in between meetings?) then perhaps you have bigger issues.Meg's a great woman but I learned that you don't have to be romantically involved with all girls... growing up with my sister. We're not involved, either! :)

Indeed well put. I faced the problem of finding the right partner and realized that actually there are no accessible matching tools. Therefore I founded with other 2 co-founders - youfounder - an online tool that improves the matching process between potential partners in the startup industry. It is actually a process of setting up expectations between the potential partners before partnering. To learn more about the tool you can see our beta at: http://questionnaire.youfounder.com/enlogin.aspx

Funny, from reading this article, I get the impression that only men should be co-founders. Please correct me if I'm misinterpreting something here.
